Warwick Thai Festival returning to the town later this month

The popular Warwick Thai Festival will be returning to the town for its 21st year later this month.

The two-day event, which has been organised by Warwick Rotary Club with Magic of Thailand, will take place at the Warwick Racecourse on Saturday June 27 and Sunday June 28.

On both days, the festival will run from 10am to 6pm and it will feature Buddhist monks, Thai boxers, dancers and musicians, as well as stalls selling Thai food, drinks, spices, crafts, and massages.

The event attracts thousands of people every year and helps raise money towards good causes supported by Warwick Rotary Club.

Buddhist Monks will start the festival off with their ceremonies, and the traditional reception of gifts from the traders.

Following a welcome from the Mayor of Warwick, Cllr Simon Pargeter, there will be a presentation of Thai culture on stage throughout the day, with dancing, lady boys, music, Thai boxing and cookery demonstrations.

Visitors will also have the chance to win a flight to Thailand.

The organisers said with the racecourse’s grandstands, there will be shelter if there are any rain showers over the weekend.

Tickets are on sale in advance and cost £6 each, with those aged under 15 years old able to enter for free.

Tickets can be bought from: www.magicofthailand.co.uk or on the gate on the day.

This year’s event is being supported by Warwick Castle, Startin Kia Warwick, Warwick District Council and the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Warwick Rotary Club has worked with the Thai people since the tsunami in 2004, when it started an annual festival of culture and food to raise money to help orphans.
