This week the Playbox Theatre reopened for the autumn season following a summer catch-up programme for young people who were unable to attend their training due to enforced Covid-19 closure.

The Dream Factory in Warwick, Playbox's creative home, and regional centres in Kenilworth and Stratford opened their doors for young people to develop skills through the performing arts.

With an operational Covid secure plan that has proved very successful throughout the summer, the company is excited about the return.

In addition to regular programmes the company are planning a Christmas production,'The Railway Children' staged in a new configuration to enable social distancing for audiences.

Additionally, Playbox Theatre will stage an installation, called 'Dreaming' in October inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Playbox says it 'brings together the recorded soundtrack by members of Playbox alumni with current performers in an environment that stimulates the spectator to imagine themselves at the Kenilworth Court of Queen Elizabeth for a 20-minute sequence'.

Plans are also underway for new drama, cabaret nights and special events across autumn and the company have also partnered with Leamington Music for a series of concerts.

A spokesperson from Playbox said: "At Playbox Theatre we are determined, under the current Covid restrictions to be the beating artistic heart of Warwick for all young people, audiences and newcomers.

"Our café Whirl is open daily, our play square daily environment for under five’s has been redesigned and we are all looking forward to getting the Factory and its surrounds back into action.

"Playbox Theatre has been greatly helped by funding from Arts Council, Warwick District Council, The Reynolds Foundation, Heart of England Trust and the huge ongoing generosity of our members, supporters and well-wishers who continue to support our Fundraising campaign.

"It is heart-warming to know what a vital role we play in our community and we are determined to give the very best we can after these difficult times."
