Warwickshire college teams up with business to make PPE donation to Warwick Hospital

A college in Warwickshire has teamed up with a local business to help provide key equipment for NHS workers.

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust approached college group WCG (formerly Warwickshire College Group) for donations of personal protective equipment and a employee from the group’s Warwick Trident College answered the call.

Keith Brandon, who is a work-based learning manager at the college, contacted ERS Office Supplies and together they organised the donation of 50 pairs of safety glasses.

ERS Office Supplies is based at Smallbrook Business Centre near Bidford-on-Avon and managing director Rob Williams worked with Keith on the project, raising the necessary funds and ordering the supplies.

The safety glasses have now been delivered to Warwick Hospital for use by NHS staff working tirelessly during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Keith is a work-based learning manager for engineering and power but used his experience as a former volunteer with the St John Ambulance Service to identify the type of equipment that would be beneficial to the hospital.

The college is continuing to raise further funds in order to provide the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust with more essential equipment.

Keith said: “As soon as we saw the request from the NHS Foundation Trust we wanted to help in any way we possible could.

“We weren’t able to find any supplies in the workshop at Trident, but we didn’t want to stop there so we decided we would raise the money to buy the safety glasses and then donate them to the hospital.

“I have known Rob from ERS Office Supplies for many years and we both have a strong association with the ambulance service, so we had a good idea of the kind of equipment required.

“We raised the money and in the space of a few days, the glasses had been delivered to Warwick Hospital.

“We’re planning to keep raising money to be able to provide a continuous stream of PPE for the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust. It’s the least we can do to say thank you for their incredible work.”
