Warwickshire policeman walks 86 miles of laps around Leek Wootton HQ in 24 hours to raise money for armed forces veterans charity

A Warwickshire Policeman has walked laps around the force's headquarters in Leek Wootton while wearing a 50lb backpack for 24 hours to raise money for an armed forces veterans charity.

Veterans Contact Point is a charity close to the heart of PC Scott Caswell ,who also serves as a Staff Sergeant in the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers reserves.

PC Caswell donned the heavy military bergen and set off on his walk at 9am yesterday (Thursday November 26) and had covered 86 miles in laps of the roads around the police HQ by the same time today (Friday November 27).

Colleagues and friends jooined him on parts of the walk to offer their support.

PC Caswell said: "I serve with the military and understand how important it is to remember and support people who have served before me.

"I know that anything I raise for them will go towards developing services to local Veterans, which I think is even more important these days.

"It has already successfully delivered many projects involving the Armed Forces community, including several aimed at veterans in the criminal justice system.

"As a small charity, it could really do with a little extra support to continue to help our service leavers and ex-forces community."

The challenge has already raised more than £1,000 for the cause but donations can still be made via the gofundme website.
