Plan for Campion Hills traveller site withdrawn

A plan to use land in Campion Hills in Lillington as a permanent traveller site has now been withdrawn.

The leader of Warwick District Council Cllr Andrew Mobbs (Con, Park Hill) said he was impressed by the number of emails received arguing against the site and the points that were raised in them.

He assured fellow councillor Cllr Alan Boad (Lib Dem, Crown), that any thoughts of a traveller site on the land are now “dead and buried.”

The item has now been pulled from the executive meeting this evening (Wednesday March 6).

The announcement was made by Cllr Boad on the Facebook group ‘Protect Lillington Greenbelt’ on Tuesday March 5. He added: “The campaign is won before it even started, thank goodness.”

Council officers had previously recommended the site be used to accommodate travellers despite it being on green belt land.
