Plans for 735 new homes between Leamington and Warwick set to be approved

A major housing application for 735 homes between Leamington and Warwick will be heard next week.

And planners are being advised to give the proposal the green light.

The homes, as we have previously reported, are earmarked for the site between Myton Road and Europa Way. The plans - submitted by the Europa Way Consortium - also include a possible new school and retail space.

If approved, it will form a major part of the Government’s push for 12,300 new homes in the Warwick district by 2029. The area has already been marked on Warwick District Council’s (WDC’s) Revised Local Plan, which is the blueprint for where the new homes (as well as schools and employment land) should be built,

The current application for 735 homes is a resubmission after the same plans were submitted and then withdrawn last year.

There is also another application for more homes on the adjoining land south of this current application.

Many organisations that were involved in the consultation have not raised objections, but the ones that have raised concerns include: Warwick Town Council; Bishops Tachbrook Parish Council; Leamington Society; Conservation Advisory Forum; Stagecoach.

There have also been 72 objections from the public.

Planning officers at WDC have recommended that councillors on the planning committee approve the plans, but only on the basis that a satisfactory Section 106 agreement is put in place - which requires the developers to put in adequate compensation to the communities affected.

The planning meeting will take place on Tuesday night at 6pm at Leamington Town Hall.

The Courier will bring you news from the meeting online at www.leamingtoncourier.co.uk and www.warwickcourier.co.uk - and a full report will be published in next week’s paper.
