Police say crime has dropped in Warwickshire

Reported crime has gone down by more than five per cent between April and June, police figures show.

Last year, figures show there were 7,479 recorded crimes between April 1 and June 30, compared to 7,081 this year - the biggest fall being in robbery, which has gone down from 65 to 46 (29 per cent). Domestic burglary has dropped from 498 to 460 (7.6 per cent) and incidents involving violence with injury has gone down from 652 to 643 (1.4 per cent).

But there have been 93 more incidents of anti social behaviour reported across the county.

In south Warwickshire, crime has dropped by almost ten per cent, having gone from 3,179 incidents last year to 2,873 this year, with robbery being down by 56 per cent ((32 to 14), domestic burglary by 26 per cent (232 to 170) and violence with injury by 8.8 per cent (274 to 250).

This compares to a drop of 2.1 per cent in crime in the north of the county, where incidents involving violence with injury have increased by four per cent.

Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner Ron Ball said: “I welcome the continued improvement in crime figures and will be discussing them at my regular meeting with the chief constable.”
