Police say Government is taking the ‘p’

WARWICKSHIRE police officers joined a Midlands-wide protest against Government plans for 20 per cent cuts to policing by staging a day of action around the county this week.

Members of the county’s Police Federation - the union that represents officers - travelled to towns around Warwickshire on Wednesday with their advertising campaign during the run-up to the Conservative Party Conference, which takes place in Birmingham from next weekend (October 7).

Representatives took their advertising bus - or ‘advan’ - to the former police station in Warwick to invite members of the public to support their protest.

They were working with the federations of West Mercia and West Midlands police forces in a regionwide campaign.
