Police seek volunteers at Leamington centre

WARWICKSHIRE Police Authority is looking for volunteers to help the force keep good conditions for people held in custody at the justice centre in Leamington.

The volunteers will carry out independent visits at any time of the day to check and report back on the welfare of those being detained. Full training will be provided and travel expenses reimbursed.

The authority’s deputy chief executive Neil Gulliver said: “This is a vitally important role and we need more volunteers to help in carrying out these checks to ensure people are safe and well within the county’s custody cells.

Volunteers do not need to have any previous experience in this field and visits can be arranged to fit in with work and other commitments.

“This is an important role which promotes public confidence in the actions of the force and we welcome all applications.”
