A number of residents had objected to the scheme, raising concerns over parking, increased traffic and overlooking but councillors unanimously backed the proposals with one admitting it would tidy up an area that had always been something of an eyesore.

A planning statement sent from the developer explained that ten three-bedroom apartments would be housed in the four-storey building along with the office and health suite.

It added: “The office space can be associated with the health centre or as a separate entity depending on requirements of the end user.

“The complementary health centre will provide consultation rooms for various types for example; reflexology, acupuncture, physiotherapy, dietician, age concern, etc.”
