Warwickshire council's cabinet has approved £800k in funding to make improvements to Rugby roundabout with a dire safety record.

The mini roundabout at Lawford Road and Addison Road is considered by the county council to have one of the worst safety records in Warwickshire - with 13 incidents and 16 casualties between January 1, 2015 and October 20, 2020.

With the funding, the council plans to replace the mini roundabout with a compact roundabout, along with the installation of a signalised toucan crossing.

The council said the main reason the extra funding is needed is the requirement for 'utility diversion works' to be put in place while the new roundabout is built.
