Pups are for life, says MP on welfare issues

MP JEREMY Wright had a taste of dog days after visiting a homing centre to discuss festive welfare issues.

He had a tour of the Dogs Trust rehoming centre to look behind the slogan ‘A dog is for life, not just for Christmas’ which was coined 34 years ago for the festive season.

Mr Wright met volunteers to discuss welfare issues, as well as get to know some of the puppies.

“Owning a dog is a big responsibility and the commitment extends beyond the festive period,” he said.

Dogs Trust UK cares for more than 16,000 unwanted dogs a year.
