Queen will visit Leamington Justice Centre

THE QUEEN and The Duke of Edinburgh will officially open the Justice Centre in Leamington next Friday (March 4

The royal couple will arrive by train at Leamington Station where they will be greeted by Martin Dunne, the Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire.

At the Justice Centre the royal party will be greeted by Chief Constable Keith Bristow, of Warwickshire Police, and John Burbeck, the chairman of the Justice Centre project.

A Warwickshire Police spokeswoman said: Warwickshire Police is working closely with Buckingham Palace and all our local partners to ensure a safe and successful visit to the county.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for the county and Warwickshire Police is proud to play its part in ensuring the visit takes place in a safe and enjoyable manner.”

The Queen and The Duke will meet, among others, officers from Safer Neighbourhood teams, The Crown Prosecution Service and the custody team and the will view art work produced by Warwickshire students.

They will also meet representatives of the design and construction teams.

After viewing an empty custody cell and visiting a magistrates court, the royal party will take their seats behind the judge’s bench in Crown Court No 1 for the formal opening ceremony.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness will then depart by car for the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford for an opening event, which will include a performance of the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet and a tour of the revamped venue.
