RADIO 1 DJ Chris Moyles visits Leamington pub

Hundreds of fans came to the pub in Clarendon Avenue just minutes after Moyles had announced his arrival live on air.

His show’s crew including newsreader Dominic Byrne and producer Aled Jones joined him for the event – which was only announced on Radio 1’s Scott Mills show just before 4pm that day.

Patrons rubbed shoulders with the stars and posed for pictures before Moyles, who was rounding off a week of surprise appearances, hosted a pub quiz.

Joking with the crowd, which had been limited to 200 people for security reasons, the DJ said: “It’s a nice pub this.

“Dominic and I have just bought it and when we leave all the drinks are free.

“The first prize in the quiz is a luxury holiday, but I’ve already won it.”

Mark Thorndycraft, The White Horse’s manager, said he had known about the visit since Monday last week but had kept it a secret because organisers cancelled the original venue in Coventry when word got out.
