Record fundraising for cancer charities at Warwickshire village fair

The village of Fenny Compton in south Warwickshire may be small, but visitors to and organisers of its Christmas fayre last Saturday helped to raise a record-breaking £3,600 for Cancer Research UK and CLIC Sargent children’s cancer charity.

The annual event is organised by friends Gay Mathie and Suzanne Pratt, who are this year celebrating their 25th year of fundraising for Cancer Research UK. Gay said: “We feel quite emotional about this and want to thank all the people and businesses who supported us and our hardworking team for all their efforts.”

The fundraising continues with Gay and Suzanne’s Tree for Life, which will be lit up outside the Merrie Lion pub in High Street, Fenny Compton, today (Saturday). People can sponsor a light for £5 and dedicate it to a loved one and proceeds will go to the same two cancer charities.
