Robber given eight-and-a-half years

A SYDENHAM man has been jailed for eight-and-a-half years for his part in an armed robbery.

Rundeep Singh Bagga, 27, of Chatsworth Gardens, had pleaded guilty to two charges of robbery when he appeared before Warwick Crown Court in January and was sentenced yesterday (Monday).

The incident took place in Thornton’s Way, Nuneaton, on November 9 2010.

Bagga’s accomplice to the robbery Richard Hawkins, 26, had pleaded guilty following his arrest shortly after the incident. Hawkins, from Badgers Retreat, Leamington, been sentenced at an earlier court hearing to two years and four months for robbery.

Det Con Julie Timerick, the officer in charge of the case, said: “This lengthy sentence reflects the seriousness of this offence and sends a clear message to violent criminals in Warwickshire that they will be brought to justice.

“Our community can be confident that Warwickshire Police will work tirelessly to protect them from harm.”
