Rotarians launch 11th Tree of Light campaign

TRIBUTES can be made to loved ones in a heartwarming annual fundraising project that will light up Leamington and Whitnash.

The Rotary Club of Royal Leamington Spa is again running its Tree of Light campaign in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

This will be the 11th time the club has run the campaign, which has raised almost £40,000 for good causes over the years.

Mike Wilkinson, chairman of the club’s charity fundraising committee, said: “The Trees of Light in Leamington and Whitnash are a wonderful symbol of family and community togetherness as we all celebrate at a very special time.

“The trees enable the many people who are separated by bereavement or geography to remember their friends and loved ones in a very special way.

“While remembering them, their generous donations to Macmillan Cancer Support help the many sufferers and their families with whom this extraordinary charity works so magnificently.”

Christmas trees - one outside Leamington town hall and the other at St Margaret’s church in Whitnash - will be illuminated, with each light representing those to whom dedications have been made.
