Rugby man died from injuries after car hit tree

A Rugby man has died from his injuries after his BMW came off the road and hit a tree on Sunday afternoon.

The 24-year-old was driving on the A45 near Stretton on Dunsmore at around 12.45pm when he came off the road. He was trapped in his car for 45 minutes while fire crews cut him from the wreckage.

The black BMW was travelling from Ryton to Rugby at the time of the accident.

The man, who has not been named, was treated for life threatening injuries to his head, leg, pelvic, chest and arm but later died in hosptial.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The man suffered serious head, chest, pelvic, leg and arm injuries in the crash and was trapped in the vehicle.”

Police are now appealing for witnesses as they investigate the collision, and are calling for anyone who saw the crash, or the car shortly beforehand, to contact them on 101.
