Officers understand that after overtaking a blue Ford Mondeo near the entrance of Glebe Farm, the bike hit a blue and orange KTM motorcycle on the other side of the road.

The rider of the triumph, a 66-year-old man from Rugby, was pronounced dead at the scene when ambulance crews arrived at around 2pm on Saturday.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews attended a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle.

“Sadly, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the man who was confirmed dead at the scene.”

Paramedics and an air ambulance were all called out following the incident.
