Rugby one of UK's top places to live

Rugby has been named as one of the top places to live in the UK.

The ranking has come from Channel 4’s ‘UK’s Best Places to Live’ which aired last month.

The programme, which was presented by Sarah Beeny, looked at a range of data including earnings, job prosperity, health and issues such as anxiety to show where, in 2016, would show the best quality of life for those who are aged between 20 and 29 years old.

Channel 4’s programme ranked the top 50 places to live in the UK and in the rankings Rugby made it into the top 10 coming in as the seventh best place to live.

The Warwick district also made it into the top 10 coming in at eighth place.

The top spot in the UK was awarded to South Ribble in Lancashire and was followed by Warrington in Cheshire, which came in second and Blaby in Leicestershire which came in third.

Cllr Michael Stokes, Leader of Rugby Borough Council, said: “I’m very proud to see Rugby listed as one of the best places to live in the UK. Whilst we are proud of our past we have worked hard to make sure that Rugby is fit for the future as well, with good housing and transport links, quality shopping, and good employment prospects. With Rugby listed as the best place to live in all of Coventry and Warwickshire, it goes to show that Rugby is right at the heart of the region.”
