Ryton-on-Dunsmore villagers meet to share their tunnel visions

VILLAGERS in Ryton-on-Dunsmore have been making their mark on a project to decorate the tunnel which bisects their village.

More than 60 people attended a meeting to discuss and create designs for the 300sq metre subway under the A45.

The community project, led by the village’s youth club, will be funded by a grant from Arts On Our Doorstep and is being supported by professional artist Alisha Miller.

She said: “I’ve never known such a positive response to a community project before.”

Workshop activities have included working with vinyl to create clear images with striking colours and designing onto pictures of the subway.

A group of villagers has volunteered to remove peeling paint, moss and grime and the painting will begin this month.
