The charity’s annual 5km Santa Dash takes place on Sunday December 13, in which hundreds of adults and children will dress up as Father Christmas and run, walk or jog the route from the Warwick hospice in Myton Lane to St Nicholas Park and back.

Among those to have already signed up to take part is Rachel Stinton, along with her daughters Ellie and Maddy, in memory of her parents, Pete and Kath Sidwell.

Rachel said: “Both of my parents sadly died of cancer at a young age and although they were not cared for at the hospice, Myton really supported us when we were looking after them at home.

“We chose the Santa Dash as a way of raising money for Myton because my parents wanted the grandchildren to remember them in a positive and happy way - because the Santa Dash is such a fun event, we thought this would be the perfect way of doing so.”

The registration fee is £10 for adults and £5 for children (under 14), which includes a Santa suit for adults to wear on the day and a pair of reindeer antlers for children.

Those taking part are encouraged to raise as much sponsorship money as possible to fund the work of the charity.

Participants are welcome to walk, jog or run the course while sporting their festive attire and can look forward to entertainment on the way, including a Christmas quiz. There will also be homemade cakes and hot drinks - as well as a special appearance and performance by Frozen characters, Anna and Elsa.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome to take part with their owners and there will be a 50m dash for younger children.

The run starts at 9am and the route will head along Myton Road to St Nicholas Park, take in two laps of the park and then return to the hospice. To sign up or find out more, call 01926 838825 or visit www.mytonhospice.org/santadash
