Saved library is up and running

VOLUNTEERS in Harbury who have saved their library from closure were joined by a nationally-known writer and their MP to celebrate its re-opening on Saturday.

Celia Rees and Kenilworth and Southam MP Jeremy Wright were invited to cut the ribbon to mark the relaunch of the service, which is now being run by the community and supported by its adjoining internet cafe, Biblio’s.

The library, which was put under threat of closure by Warwickshire County Council, which used to run it, is now open on weekdays from 9am to 5pm, while the cafe, which specialises in fresh coffee and home-baked Fairtrade cakes, is open Wednesday to Friday from 9.15am to noon and on Thursdays from 2pm to 5pm.
