Search for missing body continues

POLICE are into the second day of trawling the River Avon in Warwick after receiving a report of a body seen there.

They received the call on Monday morning from a member of the public who said they had seen a man in the water on the stretch next to Myton Fields.

Police, fire and ambulance crews are at the scene where divers are conducting a thorough search of the river with underwater cameras and officers are patrolling the banks.

Inspector Stewart Bosworth was in charge of the search and said: “We just had a report saying there was a somebody having problems in the river, there isn’t much more I can tell you at the moment.

“We are responding to a report at the moment, we could be here a long time.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, no body has yet been retrieved, more details to follow.
