Sewer works in Leamington is ‘making good progress’

A phase of the ongoing work to upgrade sewers in south Leamington has been completed a week ahead of schedule.

Severn Trent, which is overseeing the upgrade, has finished laying new sewers between the Leamington to Banbury railway track and the Grand Union Canal.

New pipes are currently being installed in York Road, while the next stage involves laying around 200m of pipes in Grosvenor Road. A section of Grosvenor Road between Alexandra Road and Southway was closed last Wednesday and will remain closed for seven weeks.

A signposted diversion has been put in place, which sends traffic along Tachbrook Road, High Street/Radford Road and Sydenham Drive and vice versa.

Programme engineer Chris Keys said: “We’re very grateful for the patience of the community in Leamington and we’d like to thank them for their ongoing understanding.”

Contact details for the team have been sent to residents so they can keep up-to-date with progress. The whole upgrade for the town is scheduled to be completed in summer 2014.
