Following a traditional ceilidh last Friday night with Irish dancing performances by children, the club hosted live Six Nations Rugby on Saturday and live music going on into the night.

On St Patrick’s Day itself (Monday March 17), crowds turned out for a traditional mass and blessing of the Shamrock, followed by a party with more live music and dancing which ran all afternoon and evening. The club had also held a special St Patrick’s senior citizens lunch last week, as we reported in the March 14 Courier and Weekly News. George Coombes of the club said: “The ‘craic’ was in full swing and club was literally rocking with a fantastic atmosphere. Revellers wore bright green from head to toe in celebration of their national heritage - and it’s safe to say that plenty of the famous ‘black stuff’ was drunk!”
