Slideshow: Warwickshire at War opens at St John’s Museum in Warwick
A four-year exhibition to commemorate 100 years since the First World War opened at the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum at St John’s Museum in Warwick on Saturday.
To celebrate the launch of the display - which was put together by volunteers and includes original documents and artefacts detailing the personal stories of people in Warwickshire during the war - the museum held a day of family activities. War re-enactors gave visitors a flavour of how things were done during the 1914-18 conflict, while people could also have a go at re-living the famous ‘Christmas truce’ football match between British and German troops. There was a rare Maudslay lorry on display for people to see, as well as a museum trail and First World War-themed craft activities.
