Slimming group helps wedding day smiles

Brides and grooms at a Warwick slimming group have lost a combined weight of 18st 7½lbs as they rush towards their wedding photos.

The Warwick Slimming World group is run by Angie Jenkins at Emscote Infant School in All Saints Road and has had a recent influx of couples desperate to fit into their wedding dresses and tuxedos.

Newlyweds Claire and Alan Champ shed a combined total of 6st 3lb before they headed down the aisle, while Donna McDonnell married her fiancé 2st 12½lb lighter and wearing her dream size 10 dress. Mother-of-two Kate Ward, 37, is getting married in three weeks and has lost more than two stones.

She said: “I had twin boys nearly three years ago and it takes its toll on your body and your mind.
“I wanted to get a bit of myself back and without wanting to sound corny it’s one of the best decisions I ever made.

“It will make so much difference for me on my wedding day. Not just for my wedding, but for my life in general.

“Being a mum I think it’s important to feel good about yourself and my confidence has gone through the roof. I’ve got back my self confidence and feel good in my clothes again.”

Ms Jenkins said: “I’m so proud of all of them. They’ve done amazingly and their huge success has really inspired the other members in our group.

“People discover that you don’t have to go hungry to lose weight and slimming can be fun.”
