Soroptomist Swimathon returns for 14th year

AFTER months of build up, organisation and planning, the Soroptomist Swimathon 2011 is finally upon us.

The fundraising event will see teams making a big splash and swimming in relay for 55 minutes at Warwick School’s swimming pool on Sunday.

The latest team to throw their swimming hat into the pool are the staff at Specsavers in Leamington who are perennial Swimathon entrants.

The event veterans have entered two teams - Barry’s Brothers and Leamington Lionhearts - captained by contact lens optician John Vagg who will be aiming to beat their previous record of nearly 80 laps, and raise substantial amounts for the two charities Myton Hospice and the air ambulance.

There are still some afternoon slots available to take part so if you would like to become a last minute entrant or donate to the event call 492226 or email [email protected].

Alternatively you can head to Warwick School Sports Centre from 11am on Sunday to cheer on those taking part in the 14th annual Swimathon.
