South Warwickshire guitar star releases album at the age of 11

Toby Lee, who has been praised by blues legend Joe Bonamassa and played live on BBC Radio and on the Channel 4 show TGI Friday, spent just over a month producing and recording his album, entitled 10.

The Crackley Hall Primary School pupil said: “It was very hard work. I feel really proud that it’s out and people have already started buying it.”

Toby discovered his love for playing music when he was given a ukulele by his granny as a toddler. He soon moved up to the electric guitar - helped by his father Terry, a big fan of Jimi Hendrix and Gary Moore.

A video of Toby playing a BB King song after the singer fell ill last year went viral online and achieved more than 50 million views. After this, the schoolboy was invited to play at a BB King Blues Club in Memphis, USA, and he has also played at the Leamington Assembly with Walter Trout, at Cropredy Music Festival in Oxfordshire and on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2.

Toby said: “Playing the guitar makes me feel happy. I started playing four years ago and just played and played and played. Everyone said I was really good - I didn’t know what they meant, but I just kept playing. I just play all the time because I love it.”
