Special honour for health and safety professional

A hardworking health and safety professional has received the Army's Chief of the General Staff's Commendation.

Helen Powell was nominated by her then boss Lt Col Sean Keilty after working exceptionally hard to fulfil both her role and a vacant job.

Helen also works for the Ministry of Defence at 30th Signal Regiment at Gamecock Barracks, near Wolvey, and has been there for nine years.

Helen is currently launching a business as a freelance health and safety consultant in Rugby offering a range of services, including risk assessments, inspections, audits, policy writing, staff training, and advice.
