Stepping down but not away: Brian and Pauline will still be involved in Cubbington OAP Association

CUBBINGTON and District OAP Association’s former chairman Brian Goddard has said he will still be very much involved in the club despite retiring from their roles on the committee.

Both Mr Goddard, 76, and his wife Pauline, 73, of Beaufort Avenue have been committee members for 11 years with Mr Goddard being chairman for eight of them.

They will both continue to deliver copies of the association’s monthly Acorn magazine and to attend the club’s various outings.

Mr Goddard said: “I thought it was really time for some new blood to come onto the committee and that it was time for somebody else to have a go.

“My highlights as chairman were the outings I helped to organise, especially the trips for our members who use wheelchairs because it is nice to give them a day out.

“Everything hasn’t always run smoothly of course, but I’ve always got a lot out of it.”

Mr Goddard will now devote more of his time to his role as press officer for the Royal Naval Assocation’s Male Vice Choir and as a member of Warwick Probus while Mrs Goddard will continue to collect money for the association’s 500 club.

She said: “We’ve had some good times on the committee, there have been ups and downs but on the whole we have really enjoyed it.”
