Stroke support group will celebrate its first anniversary

WARWICK and Leamington Stroke Support Group is celebrating its first anniversary on Friday March 9.

The group, which was set up by stroke survivor Jane Malone, now has 17 members and volunteers who meet at Chandos Court fortnightly on Fridays from 10am to noon.

The event will be opened by Mayor of Leamington Cllr Alan Wilkinson who will joined by Mayor of Warwick Cllr Trudy Offer, Chris White MP, representatives from the Stroke Association and staff from Leamington Rehabilitation Hospital.

A grand raffle will be held and there will be craft tables, homemade refreshments and more.

In the past 12 months the group has hosted talks by representatives from Guide Dogs for the Blind, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and the National Trust.

Members can benefit from speech therapy and yoga sessions and a painting therapy class is planned for the near future.
