Tankards Trophy is up for grabs in fundraising golf tournament

NO irons or drivers will be needed for a fundraising golf challenge taking place in Long Itchington tomorrow (Saturday) and on Sunday.

Graham Beattie, who owns a nine-hole putting green at his home in Odingsel Drive, has been asked by the Friends of Long Itchington church (Frolic) to host a a tournament to raise funds for the church roof restoration appeal which has a target of £125,000.

Players will compete over 18 holes for the Tankards Trophy, the prize for a tournament inaugurated in 1979.

The three classes include men, women and handicap and the par for the course is 36.

Entrance costs £2 per round and a putter and ball will be supplied.

The course will be open from 10am to 6pm on both days and no booking is required.
