Teams wanted for dragon boat race

The waters of the River Avon in St Nicholas Park will be turned to a churning mass as teams of 16 take to dragon boats to raise money for charity.

Staff of Alsters Kelley Solicitors have just announced their entry for the second year running.

The AK Oar Stars team, comprised of staff from Coventry, Leamington Spa and Nuneaton offices, will compete in the competitive Chinese-style boat race on May 22.

Last year they raised £2800 towards the building of Zoe’s Place baby Hospice in Coventry, and this year they hope to raise money to help cover the costs of furnishings and equipment.

Alsters Kelley partner and team member Neil Raiseborough said: “We are excited not only to be participating in the race again, but to raise as much money as we can for Zoe’s Place as they expand to support more babies and children with life-limiting illnesses.

“It’s also a great opportunity for staff to get together and do something fun. Hopefully this year will be sunny and we will win.”
