Mr Hildebrandt said: “a TED Talk is often cited as a pinnacle of someone’s career - everyone from Bill Gates to Jamie Oliver has taken a turn delivering one and inspiring millions around the world.

“For our speakers it was no different - we’d like to thank them for working tirelessly to deliver TED Talks deserving of the standing ovations given by our audience.

“It’s certainly no mean feat to deliver a talk of this calibre and to engage and inspire an audience like they have.”

“We are astounded by all the positive feedback we’ve received and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that’s supported our event - our volunteer team, the venue staff, sponsors and of course our audience, who made the day extra special for our speakers and performers.”

Some of the highlights of the event included a performance of the Downton Abbey theme by Mary-Jess Leaverland, who won the Chinese singing contest Min Xing Chang Fan Tian in 2009, and talks by BAFTA Award-winning screenwriter Geoff Thompson, Lunar Mission One director Angela Lamont and international model Roger Frampton, who created his own exercise programme The Frampton Method.

Feedback from audience members on social media has been very positive.

@VaultIP tweeted: “Congratulations to @TEDxLeam for a truly awesome event. Inspirational, thought-provoking and emotional.”
