Teenager to ride at Windsor

AN ASHORNE sixth-former has been asked to ride a horse belonging to the Queen and stay at Windsor Castle as she takes part in a world famous show.

King’s High School pupil Christina Stuart, who has been horse-riding for most of her life, will be part of the Diamond Jubilee Pageant at the Royal Windsor Horse Show on Wednesday.

And the 17-year-old - accompanied by her mum Jayne Stuart - will get to stay at the stables accommodation at the grounds of the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world.

Mrs Stuart, who runs the Ashorne-based firm Rugwash 2000 that regularly provides services to the stables at Windsor, said: “The part of the parade Christina is in lasts for 40 minutes - it’s called ‘All the Queen’s Horses’ and includes all the horses that have been associated with the Queen.

“They walk in, bow to Her Majesty and stand in line. Let’s just hope for some nice weather!”

Christina has been riding Balmoral Buckler, a horse belonging to the Queen, for the past three years and will be seen on him dressed in her finest riding jacket, jodhpurs and boots by thousands of spectators and television viewers. The show involves around 500 horses and the best riders from across the world.

Mrs Joyce said: “Her boots will be polished and hopefully the horse will be clean! We have been playing loud music to him in the stables to help him get used to that.”
