Ben Castle, Ben Hughes and Seb Fleet will be joining 13 other people to take on the Yukon River Quest, a 444- mile non-stop race held in the northwest of Canada from Wednesday June 29 to Friday July 1.

The team, who all work for distributing company Wolseley UK, aim to raise £100,000 for Cancer Research UK by completing the journey from Whitehorse to Dawson City along the Yukon River in under 50 hours. The team will be split into two canoes with eight people in each.

Ben Hughes said: “It’s going to be a tough challenge but definitely an experience of a lifetime.

“It’s heartening to see so many people come together from across the organisation to support us. It’s a challenge that will push the teams to physical and mental limits and beyond but it’s all for a worthy cause.

“Cancer Research UK is a charity that supports many people across the UK and we encourage anyone from across the area to support our quest.”

Seb Fleet said: “My initial reaction was, this could be fun and then when I looked in to it, I thought, wow, what a challenge and something to achieve.

“I like to think I’m a fit person, but this is something that will push me to the next level and give me a really hard goal to chase.

“It is also a great opportunity to raise a lot of money for a very worthwhile cause.”

Ben Castle said: “My aims are to complete the event with the team and raise money for a charity that’s had an impact on the people closest to me.

“This is a once in a lifetime event and I’m proud to have the opportunity to compete.”
