Traffic slows as sewer replacement works begin

QUEUES have stretched along roads into Warwick after sewer replacement work began on Monday.

Severn Trent is replacing ageing sewage pipes along Emscote Road in a scheme due to continue until November 5.

Diversions take motorists around the work between Pickard Street and Wharf Street. An alternative route directs motorists through Leamington and along Myton Road. The work coincides with resurfacing work in High Street and Jury Street in the town centre which had to be hastily finished after complaints from shopkeepers and in time for the Olympic torch parade.

Severn Trent spokeswoman Sarah-Jayne O’Kane said: “We are talking to local businesses to see how we can limit any impact.”
