Tributes to Kenilworth man killed in road crash

Thomas Edwards, known to his friends as Eddy, from Kenilworth died after the collision with a car along the Birmingham Road near Stratford on May 30.

At around 5.30pm, his Honda motorbike was involved in the fatal collision with a Vauxhall Zafira and Mr Edwards, was killed at the scene.

An ambulance crew and air ambulance arrived on scene to find passers-by trying to resuscitate the injured biker.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When emergency services arrived they found a car and a motorcycle which had been involved in a significant collision.

“The motorcyclist, a man, was in cardiac arrest and passers-by were performing CPR on him.

“Ambulance staff and the medic continued resuscitation but sadly, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

One man has taken to the internet to pay tribute to his friend following the accident, writing: “Such a massive shock. He was a best friend as well as being like a brother to me. Can’t get my head around it still, going to be missed by a lot of people.”

One woman involved in the attempted rescue has sent her thoughts to his family as she spoke of her experiences during an appeal for help.

She said: “We ran to the car and made the 999 call. We want to let his family know me and three others were right by his side trying to do the best we could.

“We’re sorry for their loss. It’s been a traumatic and such a sad event. We did the best we could. It was absolutely awful to see.”

The driver of the car was treated for shock but is not thought to have been injured.

The road was closed off by police until around 10pm.

Officers are urging anyone who may have seen anything before the collision to contact them on 101.
