One woman has been airlifted and two other people have taken to hospital by ambulance following a two-car crash near Southam.

The collision happened on Banbury Road in Southam at around 1.30pm today, September 24.

Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance with a doctor and critical care paramedic on board attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The driver and passenger of one car, two women, sustained serious injuries in the collision.

"Ambulance staff worked closely with fire colleagues to extricate them from the vehicle whilst continuing to administer emergency treatment to the women.

"One woman was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire whilst the other was transferred by land ambulance on alert to the same hospital.

“The driver of the second car, a man, was out of the vehicle when emergency services arrived.

"Upon assessment he was found to have relatively minor injuries and was taken to Warwick Hospital by land ambulance for further checks.”
