The first theft took place on Monday September 14 in Oxfam in Abbey End, and the second took place on Tuesday September 15 in Savers in Warwick Road.

Craig Ricardo, a Police Community Support Officer with the Kenilworth Safer Neighbourhood Team, said thieves like to employ distraction techniques, often speaking to the victim before an accomplice takes an item from their bag.

He said: “There is always more than one person involved, and elderly people are often targeted.

“It only takes one or two seconds, so people need to keep their bags close and be aware of strangers around them.”

He also encouraged people to attend the team’s surgeries at Abbey End Market held on Thursdays from 10:30am-12pm.

Anyone with any information about these thefts should call Warwickshire Police on 101.
