Dedication to the young recognised by honour

HELPING to make a difference to the lives of children has earned a Southam woman a place on the New Year’s Honours List.

Marion Clare Davis, former director of the children, young people and families directorate at Warwickshire County Council, was made CBE for her services to children and young people.

She said: “This is not what I ever expected to happen to me but I’m absolutely delighted and I see it as a tribute to all who work in children’s services. I’m grateful to the county council, which enabled me to work on a national stage in my role as president of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services.”

She added: “I see this as an honour to my team and all who work with and for Warwickshire schools and Warwickshire children. They are being honoured for what they do to make a difference to children’s lives and I hope this shines a spotlight on the work they do, day in and day out.”

Each year the New Year’s Honours list recognises the achievements of almost 1,000 people from across the UK.
