Unsinkables swim again

THE Ufton Unsinkables have already proved that they can stay afloat by taking part in 11 of the Soroptimist Swimathons in Warwick - and so the team are entering again.

The group of villagers are among many teams to have signed up to take part in the event, which this year is raising funds for the Myton Hospices and Parkinsons UK and takes place at Warwick School on Sunday October 14.

The event, which is organised by the Leamington and Warwick and Kenilworth branches of the Soroptimists - an international women’s group, is now in its 15th year and has to date raised more than £140,000 for charity.

Teams should consist of six swimmers and a non-swimming team captain and on the day, participants swim two-length laps in relay for 55 minutes. Trophies will be awarded to the team that swims the highest number of lengths and the team that raises the most amount for charity.

Teams are encouraged to adopt a light-hearted nautical or fishy-themed name.
