UPDATE: Flooding in Warwickshire causes chaos this morning


Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service have received a high number of calls to rescue people from trapped cars after trying to drive through floodwater, and have attended incidents in Kenilworth, Princethorpe, Baginton, Stoneleigh, Gaydon, Wolston, Wellesbourne, Great Alne and Hampton on the Hill.
Warwickshire Police said the number of emergency calls from midnight to 12.30pm increased by 223 per cent as a result of the weather conditions.

Hide AdThe flooding has also caused severe delays for commuters this morning.
Parts of the A46 near the Longbridge Island off junction 15 of the M40 came to a standstill after flooding on the B4463.
The A425 between Staverton and Leamington has also been closed by Warwickshire Police due to flooding at Lower Shuckburgh.
The A428 Rugby Road was closed in both directions following flooding in Church Lawford.

Hide AdThe A5 between Weedon and Kilsby has been shut due to a collision.


The Fosse Way at Hunningham has seen flooding, as well as Offchurch Lane and Oakley Wood at Bishop’s Tachbrook.
Stagecoach Midlands have announced all of their services in Warwickshire are likely to delayed because of the flooding.
Chiltern Railways has announced services between Hatton and Leamington as well as Leamington and Banbury have been cancelled due to the flooding. Normal services between Hatton and Leamington are due to resume at around 2pm.

Hide AdSeveral Warwickshire schools have announced they are closed as a result of the flooding.


Leamington Hastings Church of England Academy, Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School, Princethorpe, all announced closures.
A spokesman from Warwickshire County Council said: “The flooding on roads is not down to drainage but to farmland runoff - water from fields and debris disturbed by the water.”
