Update: Lapworth train fire sees passengers evacuated


Crews from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service where called at about 8am this morning to tackle the fire involving the wheels of a passenger train at the village’s railway station.
An ambulance service spokesman said the train had pulled into the station with a fire underneath its carriage.

A paramedic area support officer and an ambulance crew attended.
British Transport Police also attended.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The passengers were taken off the train and into shelter at a local school.
“Our staff were on standby while the other emergency services dealt with the fire. “Fortunately no-one was injured.”
