Update: Police appeal after fatal Princethorpe collision

Ambulance crews were called to Oxford Road at around 9.15pm on Saturday after a biker heading from Southam towards Ryton collided with a Fiat Bravo travelling in the opposite direction.

The man, who has yet to be named, was confirmed dead at the scene despite a 40 minute resuscitation effort by emergency services at the side of the road.

The impact of the hit threw him 100 metres down the A423.

The driver of the car, a 32-year-old man, and a young passenger, were both uninjured.

An off-duty community first responder was at the scene to administer CPR and was later joined by two ambulances and paramedics.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “An off-duty community first responder came across the RTC involving the motorcyclist and car and was first on scene to help.

“The motorcyclist, had sustained multiple traumatic injuries and was in cardiac arrest.

“Ambulance crews and doctor working as a team to deliver extensive advanced life support at the roadside.

“Sadly, after more than 40 minutes of resuscitation, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead on scene.

“The driver and passenger in the car, a man and a little boy, were assessed by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment.”
