The team behind Leamington’s annual carnival is seeking volunteers to help out in the run-up to next year’s
summertime show.

The carnival is planned to take place on July 11, but the planning has already started - and the popular event may not be able to take place unless more helpers can get involved.

The carnival team is looking for local people to help out for a few hours a month. “The success of any community event relies on the contribution of people, and the Leamington Carnival is no different,” said committee member Jamie Walker.

“There are many ways people can help; we’re looking for a festival co-ordinator, who will be working with the artists, performers, traders and charities; a sponsorship manager who can deal with getting sponsors and businesses involved; and a procession manager, who will work with local schools and groups, along with event support volunteers who can help out behind the scenes with the administration of the event.

“If you are enthusiastic, want to have fun, are looking to gain new skills and voluntary work experience, we want to hear from you.”

The carnival was a Leamington tradition from the early 1900s, but it ended in 1998.

However, the tradition was welcomed back on July 12
this year, sponsored by organisations such as Warwick KIA and Leamington hair salon Blaze.

Thousands of people attended the day, which included stalls, a funfair, and a summer-themed procession, led by Mayor of Leamington, Cllr John Knight.

A street collection also took place, which raised £800 for local charitable organisations.

Prospective volunteers who wish to help should contact the organisers at [email protected], or visit the website at www.leamingtoncarnival.org.uk for more information.

The closing date for registering interest is Friday November 7.
