Vomiting bug: visiting restrictions eased at Warwick Hospital

WARWICK Hospital is now allowing people to visit patients during a restricted period, following an outbreak of a vomiting illness on several wards.

Since norovirus was detected in the hospital last week, no visitors have been permitted, but today (Monday), after reviewing the situation, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust - which runs the hospital - has decided to allow visitors to enter the unaffected wards from 6pm to 8pm.

Only immediate family members who are aged 16 or over will be admitted and visitors must wash their hands before and after entering the wards.

Anyone who has had or been in contact with someone who has had diarrhoea and/or vomiting within the last 48 hours should not enter the hospital.

Full restrictions will remain in place for the affected wards at Warwick Hospital: Farries, Guy Ward and Squire wards, as well as the Nicol Unit at Stratford Hospital and Arden Court at the Helen Ley Centre in Blackdown. Visitors will not be permitted on the Avon and Charlecote wards today but the trust is expecting to be able to allow visitors on to these wards tomorrow (Tuesday).
