Warwick-based charity to take on project to help transform a hospital

Evelyn’s Gift was set up in memory of Evelyn Smith, who died in 2013 after having a viral and bacterial infection of her upper respiratory tract, which doctors had missed opportunities to diagnose and treat properly.

One of the charity’s aims is to provide acts of kindness to people in need.

The charity will be carrying out one of their acts of kindness next month, where they have organised to take on large project at St Michael’s Hospital in Warwick, which specialises in psychiatric care.

Last year the charity transformed the family room and garden on the Willowvale ward at the hospital thanks to support and funding from Mandy Littlejohn, the Mayor of Warwick at the time, and charity Warwick Wishes.

These improvements have had a positive impact for patients, families and staff at the hospital.

In April the charity’s volunteers will be joined by a team of around 40 volunteers from Jaguar Land Rover, who will be working to transform all of the garden areas at the hospital.

On the same day, Evelyn’s Gift has also arranged for the Jaguar Landrover volunteers to be trained on site in CPR and defibrillator use.

This is part of their joint project ‘Warwickshire Hearts’ with the Warwick District Community First Responders and local GP practices.

The volunteers will be working on the hospital gardens on Wednesday April 5.
